happy birthday Big Sis!
Today was sort of a long, exhausting day. The Professor and I did a ton of mulching and yard work, and then we cleaned and stuff. It's a lot of work, mulching.
Everyone came over in the evening for Big Sis' birthday dinner. She opened presents after dinner, and then the old folks went home and Lil Sis stayed late to watch TV with us.
Big Sis is on a diet, so she didn't want cake. We were feeling a little ripped off, so the Professor went to the Cheesecake Factory to get some cheesecake for the two of us and Lil Sis, which we ate after everyone had left.
We have another long day ahead of us tomorrow but I'm too tired to do anything else, so preparations will have to wait.
I didn't take any pictures of the birthday proceedings, but I did get this lovely picture of Mother Nature's gift to Big Sis.

crippling anxiety
Last night, I was having chest pain and a really hard time getting a deep breath. That happens to me fairly often, but I was also having some pain in my right arm. And my heart rate was inexplicably low - if anything, it's usually really high.
When you look online at heart attack warning signs in women, you get a lot of super vague information. If you're nauseous or cold or having trouble sleeping, you could be having a heart attack. It's so frustrating. The advice is to just go to the ER. If I went to the ER every time I was having symptoms accepted as heart attack signs in women, I'd be bankrupt.
For some reason last night, with the super low heart rate, felt like time to get checked out, so I bit the bullet and went to the ER (with the ever-supportive Professor).
So we hung out in the ER for awhile, I got a chest x-ray and EKG and whatever else, and of course (and thankfully) nothing is wrong with me (except anxiety and worry), so they sent me home most likely a couple thousand dollars poorer. I still think the super low heart rate is a mystery, but they didn't really seem concerned about it.

| That 48 is my heart rate. And I'm not particularly fit, like at all. |

Today was Mom's birthday.

The Professor went up to visit his grandma, and then he met up with the rest of us for Mama's birthday lunch/dinner (linner) at Gus's Fried Chicken, which is where we ate last year. It's just so super delicious.
We all went back to Mom's afterwards and celebrated with a Weight Watchers-friendly cake that RLD had made with angelfood and fat free frozen yogurt and cool whip.
Isn't she the cutest? And also, so is Kai.

Mom opened her presents, and Kai also got a squeaky llama that she is pretty pleased with. She's the best girl.

the real work begins
Here is a pretty girl, hangin around, looking pretty.
Today was a long, hot day. RLD helped us install two of the railroad ties that we got to help slow the mad rush of water down the hill during rain storms. We're hoping this will help stop some of the erosion that's going on until we can get a good sturdy ground cover in place.
The weeds are still quite dead.
Evil Twin came over and they moved the other two railroad ties into place but we didn't install them. We were too tired and hungry.

I'm happy with the work we got done, but anxious to get it ALL done. Y'know?
Later, the Professor and I got chicken nuggets from Chick Fil A and then went for a short drive looking for fancy big houses that we could imagine ourselves living in.
